Coin Market Report
ANA - BOSTON
The show started (or didn't start) on PNG day. Expecting a lot of people we were surprised to see a rather empty bourse floor. The excitement was lacking and even the PNG dealers seemed to have no energy. Perhaps it was the room. The convention room looked like an old factory assembly line building with pillars every 15 feet, aged and close ceiling and even a set of bleacher seats above the one section. All it needed were the old belts and pulleys for the machinery. We found out later that there was a second room connected with a large banner called "World Mint Walkway" or something like that. WOW, what a far change from the modern and exciting convention halls of prior shows. We hope the ANA got it for a good price.
The second day when it formally opened continued to be a disappointment. Most dealers we spoke with did not have a good show. Our sales were far from normal and the coins being offered also lacked appeal. In other words it was NOT a good show. We did manage to purchase several nice pieces including an 1807 Draped Bust Half Dollar in PCGS AA CAC. This coin is spectacular with intense original luster and a great strike. Be sure to check it out.
Wish we had better news but it is as it is.
